Gray & Sloan's Tween Lounge

Picture
my best friend is a super parent in my eyes.  she juggles three boys ranging in ages from eleven to three, and nothing seems to faze her.  a recent move to columbia, sc gave us an opportunity to create a cool lounge for her two oldest sons.  she gave me carte blanche to design a space where the boys could do homework, play games and hang out with friends.  immediately, i knew i wanted a modern vibe that would last until the boys left for college.

starting with an inspiration fabric, as i always do, i created a palette of gray, chocolate and orange with just a hint of red.  the red is a tribute to usc since dad is a gamecock for the next three years.  white furniture keeps the room crisp, while pops of orange keep it youthful.  i'm crazy about the orangey-red leopard fabric!

i will be photographing all three boys this fall and plan to hang large photos of each one in this room.  there is nothing in this room i don't love, it is absolutely one of my favorite projects ever.

Jackson & Carter's Playroom

Picture
jackson and carter are two very lucky children.  mom courtney called on me to transform their blank bonus room into a hip and swanky play space.  starting with two lime green lamps, i mixed up a palette of tomato red, chocolate brown and a touch of bubblegum pink (for carter).

one of my favorite things in this room is the modern animal fabric on the window cushion.  it was the last element i added to the design and it pulls all the colors of the room together.  can we say serendipity?  i'm also crazy about the 'pom' chandelier.  it simultaneously looks modern and delicate, and is the perfect feature over the kid's activity table.

this multi-functioning playroom has a sophisticated design that is suited for playdates and parents.  by day, this room may be all about the tots, but it serves double duty as a great retreat for mom and dad once the kids are tucked in.
