Bella & Gillan's Bedroom
mom jessica asked me to breathe some life into the bedroom her daughter and son share. the existing bedding was a great jumping off point, and the room seemed to come together in a snap. an accent color was needed, and right away i thought orange was the way to go. a hit of orange, in the form of luscious velvet drapes, frames the window niche and new study area.
one of my favorite things in the room are the poms hanging over the desk. so fun and whimsical, they really make the window the focal point of the room.
overall, a simple but extremely effective room redo for under $250.
Petty Master Bedroom
the petty's new dilworth bungalow now has a soothing master bedroom.
this room is a perfect balance of masculine and feminine details. curvy aluminum side tables and stacked crystal ball lamps look great against the faux bois rug and nailhead trimmed headboard. reupholstering an antique chaise lounge provides a cozy spot near the fireplace.
with this project i found my new favorite shade of gray; the entire palette evolved around this wall color. a mix of textures provides interest and complexity in a predominantly monochromatic scheme.
Ben's Lego Bedroom
my first real 'theme' room is not all that themey after-all. implying 'lego' without screaming primary lego colors was a must. i didn't want ben, now six, to outgrow the room too quickly, so i kept the palette more mature and muted.
creating a feature wall behind the bed was important, so i mimicked an entire wall of legos. this adds a graphic punch that is unexpected and youthful. i used my favorite knoll pattern 'abacus' for a custom shower curtain in the ensuite bathroom and the custom pillow sham on the bed.
this fabric was the inspiration for the color palette, a subtle gray was the perfect choice for the walls.
one of my favorite elements in the room is the custom lego board; it serves as art as well as a surface for ben to build legos vertically.
Skinner Master Bedroom
another example of how small changes can make a huge impact. kim and frank hired me to give their master bedroom some much needed attention. while the furniture was great, the room was missing some key elements and lacked detail.
by layering in draperies, a colorful rug and some wow accent pillows, the room feels more cohesive and complete. the addition of a comfy chair fills an empty corner and provides a cozy spot for reading.
Avery & Izzy's Nursery
i finally had the opportunity to design my first room for twins. this is the second nursery i've designed for the mcnally's. big sis cameron had a very pink nursery, so this time around i wanted to do something completely different.
budget was a concern, but not a challenge. by recycling two cribs and giving them a vibrant kelly green paint treatment, we get the 'wow' factor we were after. the end result was well worth the effort.
the rug was the inspiration piece for the entire room. i loved how the floral print was modern and vintagey at the same time. preppy, cute and classic.
Gunnar’s Nursery
gunnar’s mom asked me to add some 'pop' to a nursery that was left bare for resell purposes. after months with their home on the market, mom was ready to take her son's room up a notch.
with only one continuous wall in the room, i knew i had to make it a feature. luckily it was the first wall you see when you walk in the space. a harlequin pattern of grosgrain ribbon and nickel nail heads was the perfect solution.
by simply adding a custom cornice, some yummy velvet drapes, a rug and a feature wall behind the crib, the nursery looks cohesive and complete.
by far, the tiniest nursery i've ever had the pleasure of working on. mom emily wanted a truly girly-girl room with a hint of shabby chic. we started with a palette of fresh pink and green fabrics that would keep the room light and airy and compliment the existing green walls.
a vintage inspired floral combined with a contemporary stripe, gives this room a modern twist that keeps it from becoming too frilly. crystal knobs tie-in with the home's period style and add a bit of drama to the new furniture.
Wyatt's Nursery
the ishee nursery was my first unisex room. mom kate purchased a modern angela adams rug and it became the inspiration for the design. shades of chocolate, chartruese and tiffany blue give this nursery a totally fun and fresh vibe. custom linens of coordinating fabrics kick up the hip factor.
a custom cream microsuede rocker and ottoman visually 'pop' off the serene teal walls and chocolate roman shades add a sophisticated touch to the windows and tie in with the crib bumper's chocolate chenille interior.
Grady’s Nursery
one of my mom's friends asked me to design a nursery for her first grandchild. i was really excited for another girl's room, since most of my work up until then had been for boys!
one issue, this was to be a temporary nursery while grady's parents were busy building their dream house. since this wouldn't be the permanent nursery i didn't go all out, but think the room still turned out super cute. the bedding was definitely one of my favorites, so colorful and fun; totally girly without being frilly.
Sutton's Nursery
when i found out i was pregnant, i was so excited to design a nursery for our baby boy. afterall, i had been designing for other people and now it was my turn!
when the first ultrasound proved inconclusive, gender neutral decor was the answer. we mixed lots of color, but kept the room sophisticated with clean lines and modern prints. a mix of new and reinvented furniture pieces gives the room a modern twist that fits seamlessly into our home.
