Our due diligence period is over and we are gearing up for our move... I can't wait, we have 14 days until we close!! It's been great living so close to work the past couple of months but I am ready to depart from our 67 year old building that has no insulation, 1 tiny bathroom, no dishwasher, and a noisy upstairs tenant!
I've been brainstorming for what I want to do in the new house and it is really overwhelming! I can design a client's space all day long but when it comes to my own space, I am whirling in ideas, fabrics, furniture & wallpaper! I am very indecisive! As soon as I get the keys, I am taking Ashley to the house to help reel me in.
Zach and I have decided to start with the living room and the master bedroom for now... its finally time for his dear recliner to go in the trash and for us to get new pieces that are comfy and of quality and of course that look good too! However, last night I was given the news that he will need a replacement recliner where he can lounge and put his feet up....... um, LOL! That doesn't go with my plans hun.... that's what an ottoman is for.
one room, six layouts
To begin with, I started drawing out different layouts for our new living room. The main entry is open into the living room & dining room, but the living room is defined by neutral carpeting. We decided that we want to put the TV on the wall or on a media cabinet to the right of the fireplace, thus leaving the fireplace a focal point for art and accessories. All of my layouts seem to be good choices, with plenty of seating, except for No. 5 .... it seems too disconnected. I want this intimate grouping of furniture to create a conversation & entertaining hub for our home. Zach just wants to be comfortable.... in a new chair. Haha!
I am leaning towards No. 3 or No. 4 but Zach likes No. 6 because 'his chair' will be directly in front of the TV.... we'll see who wins this battle!
