I am sure many of you have come across a bedding set that you loved at the time and then brought it home just to think "how am I going to incorporate this into my room". Well that is exactly what my client, Kristi Glidewell said, only she let her 6 & 9 year old girls pick out theirs. When she came to me asking for help, I quickly agreed, I love a challenge!!
These are the duvet covers that I had to work from...
Caroline's choice was very colorful and bright, I decided to pull out the main colors with a bold stripe, a Designer's Guild fabric that I love, to use as the curtain panels. She requested "something zebra" in the room, so immediately the papier mache zebra busts came to mind (I have been wanting to use them several times, but couldn't get anyone to love them as much as I did). We painted the room a pale minty color and added a bright pink chair for reading. We added more white in the room with the shag rug, and bookshelves that we flanked beside the dresser.
Courtney's room was a little easier, she wanted blue & pink for sure! I chose the bright floral fabric for curtain panels, they had the blue and pink and added some green as well. I wanted to do something decorative over her bed too and I happened to come across these great metal flowers that we painted a darker pink to pop of the wall. In the end, we needed a little more punch so we added two big pink lamps on each side of the bed for an added pop.
The before & after shots will amaze you! Take a look......
I think the transformation is fabulous! And these girls definitely keep their room's clean now!
Having a starting a point is always good, usually a piece of art, a graphic rug, etc. In this case... PB Teen bedding!
