i've been working with the Mitchell's for a while now on the overhaul of their bungalow home in Cotswold…they are the sweetest couple expecting twins and are at the same time wanting to get their entire house done, including an addition… lucky for me at this point in the game, Jessica is trusting my every decision so I am excited for a few surprises I have in store…
the first room to get a new life in this house was the big kid's joint room which I can't wait to photograph later in the week…
the second space is the surprise nursery that will be installed late April… you'll have to check back for that one…
and the current project at hand is this addition I mentioned earlier…. yep! we're blowing out a wall in their current living room to add heated square footage for 4 kiddos to roam around in (don't worry the adults will have their space too!)
my plan for the space is to take out the sun room that they don't use and create a space for the kids to do crafts, eat, play games etc. The addition side of the room will have built in bookcases along with a window seat and toy storage..
I also plan to move the tv to the far wall (where the art is) and turn the sofa to face the other direction… I want to take away the attention from their off centered fireplace..
Here's a look at the design concept…
The Mitchell's love authentic oriental rugs, and they recently
purchased this one for the new living room:
I decided to pull out the jade & navy and keep the reds to a minimum. These are a few of my inspiration fabrics:
and the new art pieces for the mantle:
The new living room will be spacious and inviting for all ages to enjoy. I love the mix of new & old in here, it will definitely be an eclectic look. I am looking forward to another successful install in here…. hopefully before those babies arrive!!
design is a way of life.
