i've been working with new clients Meghan & Matt Jensen for a couple of weeks now to nail down a design for their downstairs family room. The couple found us on Houzz and after a Saturday meeting, I was hired! The original house on the property was torn down, and the couple built the new house from the ground up keeping a palette of neutrals: grey & white on the inside, which gave me a clean slate to work with.
when I first met Meghan, she warned me of being non-committal, she knew she needed some color in the new house but couldn't pull the trigger herself. I showed her a few design concepts and we finally landed on a combination of reds & blues!
the space is long and wide, and the only items they are keeping: the grey sectional and shag rug... and of course the pool table at the end of the room (Matt's other baby)!! The couple loves to entertain, so I am going to add a few pieces to make the room feel more complete, plus add that color pop Meghan wants.
a sofa console table will allow for pool players to have a place to put a drink down, "X" benches tucked underneath will give more seating... a swivel chair mixed in with the sectional will add to the seating area, and a storage cabinet on a bare wall with lamps will really make the space feel finished.
this is the look I am going for.....
the deadline for this project is creeping up already and we are starting the designs for phase 2, the kitchen!
stay tuned for install day .....
design is a way of life.
