my latest share are the designs for mike and summer shelton's foyer and family room. dr. shelton is an associate dentist at norwood dental clinic, and she and her husband have an amazing house on lake tillery. there are several areas to tackle, including the master bedroom which i'll blog about later, but let's focus on the entry first.
a few issues the homeowners have:
this is where we're starting...
the couple loves nautically inspired elements, so that's where i started. the entire color palette is derived with sand and surf in mind. the existing wall color is a pale golden tone, which will remain and be a great backdrop to the textures i have going on. take a look at the design board for the foyer.
i've always loved these oyster shell mirrors and this was the perfect spot for a grouping.
for the family room, comfort is key. a large sectional will anchor the space and provide lots of seating for this family of five. a soft wool rug packs graphic punch while tying the colors of the room together.
one of my new favorite things to do is to mix fabrics on chairs. a custom chair and a half will really pop with a navy stripe on just the cushions. take note, this is an easy switch out down the road, should you ever want to change up the pattern on the chair. it's as simple as recovering two cushions, much more cost effective than an entire chair.
see what you think...
and that's phase one for the shelton's home, just in time for christmas.
stay tuned for install pics! design swell. live well.
