I was thrilled to get a recent email from my client amy pack saying she was ready to do more decorating around their current cotswold home. this time around, she wants to work toward getting the space above their garage finished off and made into a rec room for playing pool, table tennis and throwing darts..... a man cave for her husband and son to hang out in.
my first design proposal was a bit too 'designey' per her son Kipling, so I have revamped the design boards to take on a more low-key man room without all of the extra frills like cornices & pillows. I still wanted a few unexpected color pops in the room so I ran with orange, royal & grey, which were the requested colors from amy's son.
the space is framed out right now and I have been orchestrating meetings between contractors so that amy does not have to deal with it. my carpenter will be lowering the ceiling to a 12' finished height, he is also going to frame out the window seat and custom pool stick storage cabinets, HVAC system goes in next, then my drywall guy is going to come in with a team and knock out getting drywall hung.. once all of the finishes are complete, eddie and his crew will come in to paint & stain everything that I need. this project should move fairly quickly and I am looking forward to seeing the finished space!
the current unfinished space....
my design proposal...
the main focus of the space is going to be the pool table, but i want to utilize other areas and make them smaller focal points like the window seat, sofa/lounge area, the tv wall and the eating area.... take a look!
stay tuned for progress on this project!! its gonna turn out great, and I have a feeling my husband will want some of these elements in his future man-cave!!
design swell. live well.
design is a way of life.
