as i mentioned in my last post, i am working on the playroom addition for the glidewell's. this is the last renovation in the home, i think.... finally a space just for the kiddos and all of their toys, art & gymnastics stuff! kristi joked and said, 'your hardly rid of me yet' when she asked me to tackle this next space. she warned me of having to work around a pair of goldish/brown sofas that have been locked up in storage for some time and finally needed a home.
the renovation is taking place in the upstairs attic space, it is nearly finished and i will be moving in all of my goodies to complete the space very soon. but let's go through and look at my ideas..
in my mind, i am breaking the space up into 3 areas.. the living area, study/art area & the gymnastics area. here is a quick drawing of how everything will be laid out:
as you walk up the stairs, the left side of the space will be the living/lounging area, the home to the brown sofas, two side tables, lamps and a ton of color with new pillows. i am having a custom cabinet made to house all of the tv components, dvd's etc. and if Kristi is game, i would love to throw in an unexpected pair of vintage chairs i recently came across, in a lacquered color of course! we may add in a coffee table or ottoman later down the road.
to the right side of the space, the girls get their own gymnastics area, complete with flat mirror installed on 2 of the walls! i plan to add some fun floor pillows to this area, but it will mostly be left open.
straight across the stairway is the built in desk area, where the kids can get creative and do art projects and maybe a little home work ;-)
the new space is still Kristi's taste, neutral and timeless, I just plan to spice it up with fabrics, furniture & COLOR! let's take a look at the design board:
i can't wait to get in here and set it all up! the kids's haven't seen anything yet, so they should be surprised on install day!! hopefully they will keep this space just as clean as their bedrooms i did a year ago... man time flies!
stay tuned for the reveal!
design is a way of life.
