i just finished the install on my second project with the carrs.
a dark, colorless den off their kitchen that was in major need of some TLC.
the first thing to do was to paint the walls a pale, warm gray to lighten up the space. there are two wall sconces along the adjacent kitchen wall, but no overhead.
the room has an existing wood stove fireplace that set the rustic tone.
knowing they like orange, i immediately wanted to use this gorgeous LuluDK fabric.
i love the branchy, organic nature of it and the colors were spot on.
pair these branches with a couple of tree side tables, love it!
to dress the windows, we did a combination of drapes and roman shades.
yes, you can mix the type of window treatments in the same room, as long as they are the same fabric! the panels have an accent band of green, while the shades get a band of pale green greek key trim.
to ground the room, and bring in more orange, we used this graphic rug.
i'm crazy for this pattern!
and lastly, to bring in some polish, this stunning honeycomb lamp in fern green.
before we see the install pics, let's take another look at the design board...
i LOVE how the room turned out! even my installer made a comment of how a few changes can really make a huge difference; i couldn't agree more.
design is a way of life.
