i've been really excited to share this install with all of you!
it turned out beautifully and my clients love it!
when long-time client danielle moskal asked if i was interested in designing the sunroom they were having constructed, i didn't hesitate!
there were few guidelines, only that there had to be both a lounging and dining space. the room also had to be family friendly, fun and a little funky. no problem!
the existing palette inside the house consists of gray, sea glass and cream. she wanted to keep the idea of a soft blue, but throw in a pop color.
the solution...aqua and orange tones.
one fabric immediately caught my eye. i knew it was the PERFECT jumping off point;
don't you agree?
of course, i never stop with just one fabric; where's the fun in that? i always layer in three or four for a room of this size to provide visual interest and softness.
the wood floors received a gray opaque wood paint. i thought it best to have two rugs, one to define the dining area, one for the lounging area
this bold stripe adds color and texture to the monochromatic floor.
that takes care of the floor, but what about the ceiling? there would be a combination of can lights and fixtures. since one needed to be a ceiling fan, i looked for something unique. this one did the trick...
danielle needed a light fixture fast, the electricians were coming! she picked this pendant up from west elm; it looks great over the dining table!
the furnishings had to be durable and easy to clean. we changed the design slightly and went with philippe starck louis ghost chairs. being clear, they don't take up visual space in the room, and an added bonus, they are the ultimate easy-to-clean chair!
a sprinkle of accessories and a complete table setting finished off this room nicely.
before seeing the reveal, let's look at the design board to see where this all started.
this room has a balanced mix of sophistication and whimsy.
it's perfect for a young family, polished without being too serious.
until next time, design swell. live well.
