I am excited to share the reveal of the Mitchell's family room that we finished installing recently. The install happened a week before the twins were born but I was waiting on their media cabinet to arrive before photographing.
To recap on the project, this space was originally a small living room with french doors that opened into a sunken sun porch, which was wasted space because the family never went out there. They wanted to take out the wall, raise the floor level on that side and create a large open family room for their now large family of 6 to enjoy.
My design plan incorporated a seating area for watching TV and an area for the kids to play, do crafts/puzzles/games and to potentially eat at all while being cohesive and kid friendly. The Mitchell's came across a gorgeous oriental rug that they loved, so my design concept started around that... I decided to pull out the jade & navy and keep the pops of red to a minimum.
We decided to reuse some of their existing pieces like the slipcovered sectional that could be broken down into a regular sized sofa and the woven coffee table which we needed for some texture. We also reupholstered their swivel chairs for extra seating.
So, you've seen the before pictures.... let's see the reveal!!
This is definitely a space this family will enjoy for years to come!!!
design swell. live well..
