lindsey and i traveled to south carolina yesterday for a "mini makeover" and we both loved how the room turned out. a friend of mine from high school needed help surprising her daughter with a bedroom re-do. armed with the knowledge that eleven-year-old emmalee loves giraffe print and lime green, i got started. i knew vintage items and a little DIY would be key to pulling this room off at a reasonable price point. take a look...
one of my first 'finds' was this vintage bed. i knew immediately that i wanted to have a fabric panel upholstered to fit inside the curvy profile. this was the perfect place to use the giraffe print. the bed frame would also get new life with a coat of black lacquer.
on one of my first shopping trips, i found this cute bench for the foot of her bed. all it needed was a new paint job and a fun fabric...
for bedside tables, i took an idea i had seen years ago from kim myles on HGTV. i took four LACK side tables from IKEA and stacked two tops to make them taller. the high-gloss turquoise was the perfect pop amidst all the shades of green.
i felt emmalee needed a desk with more storage, after all, what tween girl doesn't have lots of treasures to store away. i found the perfect mid century desk that just needed a creative re-do. i decided to try my hand at an ombre palette on the drawer fronts, i can't wait for you to see how great it turned out!
take a look at the design board and see how everything looks together...
