i realize i posted the carr's projects in reverse order, but as long as i cover them, right?
my first project with the carr's was the entry/formal living room. susan contacted
me when she was at a loss on what to do with such a long, narrow space.
figuring out the furniture placement would be key in separating the room into two spaces and not making the room look cluttered.
susan was ready for dan's bachelor sofa to GO, so i created a cozy seating area by flanking the fireplace with two love seats. the carrs had purchased this vintage chair, which needed some love. some refinishing, new springs and new duds; you'll see how great it looks now after my upholsterer got his hands on it!
the room had great bones and loads of architectural interest, it just needed the finishing touches. the entry door had two blank electrical plates on each side, i immediately suggested new sconces. i LOVE these!!!
susan wanted window panels, new lamps and new rugs to complete the room.
i used two different rugs to define the two different areas.
i'm crazy for the ombre effect of this one...
add in a stunning collection of lamps from arteriors
take a look back at the design boards...
and now the 'before' and 'afters'
the carrs have been enjoying their new space for a few months now. i'm thrilled how happy they are with it and enjoyed working with them on their den too!
check out that blog post from last week!
