this was one of the last rooms left to design in the hertzig's home, a bedroom of their daughter who is an avid swimmer! her existing room had lavender walls, pastel bedding and she wanted a totally different look, more sophisticated but not too girly.
this was my plan for her 'grown up' bedroom...
this is how the room looked when we started...
and this is how the room looks now!
i love to layer rugs on top of broadloom carpet. it helps to define the space, and adds interest to an otherwise blah surface. i chose to use black accents in the room to avoid it looking too 'sweet' and this rug was the perfect fit.
we painted the walls in benjamin moore classic gray to lighten up the room and neutralize the walls. i threw in some fun accents like the furry bench and starburst above her bed.
this was a fun makeover for me, and she was super excited with the result! that's what makes it all worth it! design swell. live well!
this living room has a fresh new look, thanks to paint, neutral furniture and pops of color sprinkled around in just the right doses.
take a look at the design boards for the space, and then see the before and after pics!
this is how the room looked when i started...
and after i finished...
one of my favorite things in the room is the vintage credenza-turned media cabinet. i seem to do this on a lot of my projects. you just can't beat great vintage pieces. this one was lacquered to match the trim, and are you just dying over that original hardware?!
it more than deserves a close up. i'm swooning...
all the fabrics helped brighten up the room. i love all the variations of green and the pop of turquoise!
i really love how this room turned out, and so do my clients. it's so fresh and inviting with punctuations of bright, happy color. just my style. design swell. live well.
I recently designed three rooms for clients kavya and vishnu in columbia, sc. a dining room, a home office and a family room. I feel each room deserves it's own post, so be on the look out for more on these rooms later this week.
to say I'm thrilled to share this install is a MAJOR understatement! hands down, this is my favorite room I've designed to-date. I'm pretty sure it has something to do with all the touches of pink sprinkled around the room, but the wallpaper, chandelier, rug, I could go on and on...
let's see where this room started, then let the drooling begin...
this amazing telefina panel fabric from @maxwellfabrics was the inspiration for the entire room. the pink is obvious, but look closely and you'll see small pops of embroidered turquoise dots. i actually just got to meet the designer for telefina & maxwell, the super talented @jenniferapple. hope you like how this project turned out!
i am crazy for this piece of art. the subtle hints of minty blue mimic the color painted in the coffered ceiling and the vases on the table.
this room just makes me happy, period, and i'm so grateful to my clients for trusting my vision for this room. kavya and vishnu are some of the sweetest people i've had the pleasure to work with, they even made me traditional indian tea on install day :)
stay tuned for posts on their home office and family room. we're tackling the master bedroom next; it will not disappoint! design swell. live well.
design is a way of life.
