It was so nice to reconnect with my friend & client, Kelley Sink recently. She is such a sweet lady to work with, and even though she jokes of being OCD with her lists and questions…. I get it…. I get her. A few years ago I designed her second child's nursery… but this time around, her projects consisted of sprucing up the adult areas of their home.
The first space she needed help in was the dining room. The plain brown room looked like a blob of brown paint… there was nothing interesting about this space except for the coffered ceiling. And while she didn't want to get into painting the room, she did want to add some things to help finish off and add pizazz because it is the first space you see when you enter their front door. The foyer needed a little help as well.. a new rug & a little styling did just the trick!
take a look..
While we were at it… Kelley had me update some things in her master bedroom as well…. She loves navy and I immediately found this is paisley fabric with an ikat twist and had to use it in here. Paired with jade green, the color combo is perfect..
The end result in here is a light & airy master retreat which Kelley loves!!! She already has me searching for a navy cabinet to house all of her books and lavender accessories to finish off this space..
design swell. live well.
it's almost friday, what a great week! today i'm sharing my latest score from craig's list (where else). a pair of mid century modern chairs for only $75! in great condition and upholstered in mohair. i love mohair, but the color isn't quite right for my space. i'm thinking i will recover them, envisioning a yummy velvet in a soft aqua. regardless, they are going to look fabulous in my living room.
i found these chairs for a steal, $130 for the pair! i loved the shape and knew they would be awesome reupholstered. these chairs are now at home in chris and noel petty's family room in their new dilworth bungalow (see the entire project in 'living spaces'). see for yourself, but i think they are fabulous!
design is a way of life.
