today's install features the formal living room for my client barri cuykendall. she and her husband had just purchased two chesterfield sofas and needed help with everything else in the room. an existing console, a family heirloom, got a second life with a coat of gray lacquer. i LOVE how it turned out!
using an existing photograph of their two boys as inspiration for the room, i pulled together a palette of red and gray with a small pop of orange. you can read about the design concept here, before seeing the before and afters.
lightening up the room was a top priority. there is no overhead light, no cans, nothing, so lamps had to be our source for artificial light. the walls were painted a medium brown above the wainscoting, so taking them back to a neutral warm gray was key. take a look...
remember the vintage mirror i picked up for this project? i love brass, but that wasn't the look we were after. take a look at what benjamin moore's 'citrus orange' can do...
a few details...
one more look at where we started...
i really love how the room turned out, and so do my clients! can't ask for more than that!
design swell. live well.
hope you have lots of fun things planned for the weekend!
as the unofficial end of summer is rapidly approaching,
i thought it would be fun to reflect on red, white and blue interiors.
mix in some fabrics to get the look. try pillows or panels
charlotte is home to the DNC next week, so i thought i'd give a little nod to the upcoming election, jonathan adler style
