this post is long over due.... ashley and i have been so busy lately with new clients and projects that we just had to stop and take a day last week to get this space photographed! i couldn't wait any longer :-)
if you remember back, the end of january or so, i did the 'on the boards' post for this project. the space definitely turned out better than even i could've imagined! repeat client Kristi is so easy going and a breeze to work with. she trusts my design abilities and is game for whatever i throw at her. after patiently waiting for the addition to be complete, it was finally my turn to go in and work my magic. install day was easy- peasy, we started ordering everything back in February, so there wouldn't be any glitches or hold ups on my end. we did have one little snag when i found out the wallpaper we were planning to install had been discontinued and i could only get 4 rolls of it.... but really i think that was a blessing in disguise. my favorite part of the entire space is the new wallpaper we ended up going with, it is gorgeous!!!!
take a look at where we started....
Kristi's favorite color is blue, it's all over her house in doses here and there, it is beautiful, traditional meets restoration hardware i'd describe it.. so i knew i had to incorporate blue in this space for her to love it. i wanted a very cohesive look, neutrals with pops of blue. i love the shape of this headboard by oly but since it wasn't the right color, i had my upholsterer Jeff do a replica of it with a pop of blue down the 'track' of the bed... its the little unexpected accent's that i love. Kristi also wanted to have a funky chair in the space, so i decided to have this one custom done with different fabrics, a one of a kind that no one else will have.
the en suite bathroom is something from a boutique hotel!!! absolutely stunning. i wanted to bring some texture in here, so we decided to clad the walls with grey grass cloth. since this bathroom won't be used too often, my installer ensured us that going with grass cloth would be fine. Kristi wanted to do a unique vanity in here so i had my cabinet millworker, Wes, create this piece from scratch... man he is good!
this is where we ended up.....
i love, love, love this space!!!!!! i'm moving in ;-)
working with Kristi and collaborating with Chris Thayer of Kloiber Construction couldn't have been easier. his team worked hard and quickly to get the space done so i could move everything into place within just a few months.
next up is the playroom addition that i get to tackle.....
i have long been a fan of quatrefoils. to me, it's a happy pattern, reminiscent of a lucky clover. it's popping up all over the place!
introduce some quatrefoil into your home with accent pillows, rugs or even dramatic window panels. you don't have to worry about this pattern being a fad, it's a classic and here to stay.
design is a way of life.
