i've been working with brooklyn abee remotely, she lives in raleigh, for several weeks now. i'm transforming her already colorful home into a chic showstopper! we're tackling her living room and dining room and things are moving right along. she's been texting progress pictures and it's looking even better than i imagined!
this is one i can't wait to share the install pictures of, i'll head to raleigh when all is complete. for now, take a look at these design boards!
this beauty will be hanging in the entrance near the stair. i think i'm most excited to see this installed! it's going to be AMAZING!
i have serious house envy with these rooms, and i'm so happy brooklyn loves how it's coming together. stay tuned for the full reveal coming soon! design swell. live well.
to start this week off, i'm sharing some projects i've been working on. one is a surprise nursery. only the doctor and i know the sex of the baby, how fun is that?! the other is a living room redesign and dining area spruce up. the living room and dining area are being installed this week and i'm super excited to see these spaces come together. take a look at the design for the space...
this is how the space looked when i first saw it. my client wanted to keep the existing wall color, so i chose fabrics grounded in the tan tone but included some pops of color. adding two sconces to the fireplace nooks will help brighten the dark room. we're also adding doors to hide the cluttered shelves.
and now the nursery! this was so much fun putting together. i had the envelope for weeks before i opened it to see what the sex of the baby was! i wanted to stay completely unbiased as i designed the space.
this room is/was the husband's man cave, so this is going to be one awesome transformation!
today i'm excited to share the install pics from the heller's family room design. i love how soothing the space is now, compared to how it started. there were some hideous things to deal with; the dark faux finished walls and the weird trim detail above the fireplace. but of course, i had a plan...
the room then
and now, so light and airy. it's like a breath of fresh air.
we also added a few things in the foyer and formal sitting room. the heller's dining room is a red/burgundy, so to carry that across the other two spaces, and make it blend was key.
it's the middle of the week, only one more school day before spring break starts! i hope you all have some fun things planned with your families and friends. we're taking off to the beach next week and i can't wait!
until next time! design swell. live well.
today on the blog, i'm sharing a soothing living room makeover for the falco's bungalow in elizabeth. when we first met, the room was a completely blank slate. it was lacking a proper layout and needed a focal point. my clients wanted calming colors with a relaxed feel. take a look at my plan for the room...
the only uninterrupted wall is the one directly across from the front door. i chose to add grasscloth to that one wall to give some depth and texture to the room; the other walls were painted in benjamin moore 'edgecomb gray.'
take a look at the room before and after!
layers of charcoal and grayed blues came together to create a cozy space for this couple; just in time for their first baby to arrive! i sincerely hope they enjoy relaxing in this room for a long time to come. design swell. live well.
this living room has a fresh new look, thanks to paint, neutral furniture and pops of color sprinkled around in just the right doses.
take a look at the design boards for the space, and then see the before and after pics!
this is how the room looked when i started...
and after i finished...
one of my favorite things in the room is the vintage credenza-turned media cabinet. i seem to do this on a lot of my projects. you just can't beat great vintage pieces. this one was lacquered to match the trim, and are you just dying over that original hardware?!
it more than deserves a close up. i'm swooning...
all the fabrics helped brighten up the room. i love all the variations of green and the pop of turquoise!
i really love how this room turned out, and so do my clients. it's so fresh and inviting with punctuations of bright, happy color. just my style. design swell. live well.
