after a LONG blogging break, i'm happy to be back with an awesome whole-house install to share! this project was a fast-track, two month from beginning to install deal that turned out amazing! this time around, i teamed up with my good friend erica mark, of erica mark photography, to capture the spaces. this is going to be a long post, filled with gorgeous images, so sit back and enjoy!
we'll start with the family room and work our way through each floor. please note, the before pictures are from the previous homeowner. the style, before i got my hands on the house, was ornate, crystal everywhere, you get the point... on the main level, i tackled the family room, dining room, master bedroom and study. i tweaked the master bathroom and kitchen, but didn't photograph those areas.
the dining room before...
the study before...
the master bedroom before...
moving upstairs to the boys' bedrooms, we'll start in the youngest son's room. i was told he loved orange, so i started with phillip jeffries manilla hemp grasscloth in tangerine for the wall behind and opposite the bed.
the older son loves shades of saturated blue. we actually went back after older brother saw the tangerine grasscloth and added phillip jeffries manilla hemp in turquoise to his bedroom.
on the basement level, i tackled the kids' lounge and media room. the media room isn't shown here, it's pretty dark in there and we reused a lot of existing furniture pieces.
and lastly, the covered patio...
saying this project was fun to work on would be a total understatement! the bershad's were super easy to work with, especially considering we met for an hour one june afternoon when they were in town from manhattan! i'm thrilled their new home was move-in ready after my install and they are enjoying their new charlotte digs!
design swell. live well.
hope you all are staying warm out there! today i'm sharing another project in the works; a bedroom for the mark's two sons. they already share a room, but as growing boys often do, they need more space!
we are taking the existing playroom and zoning it into a sleeping area and lounging area. take a look at my plans. first, the sleeping area...
and on the entry side of the room, the lounge area...
this room is getting a fresh coat of sherwin williams 'magnetic gray'
and this @stylelibrary fabric is tying it all together. i love how subtle the palette is...
super excited about these projects. i've already tackled several spaces in the mark's home. stay tuned for pictures of this install and the others coming soon!
design swell. live well.
as promised, it's time to reveal the playroom for the hertzig twins! mom kerri wanted a place for homework and an open space for play. this room came together quickly with some custom elements and fun touches. take a look...
this piece of art was the inspiration for the room. lots of blues and greens with some black thrown in. to balance the strong colors, we painted the walls 'alabaster' by sherwin williams. it's the perfect creamy white backdrop.
to add some interest to the tall ceilings, i chose this sanderson splatter wallpaper.
instead of a traditional pin board, i opted for a magnetic board wrapped in a fun fabric. now the kids have a place to display their art and personalize their work space.
a few more details...
luckily, i was there when the twins came home from school! they were so excited to get in their new room and do homework at their desks for the first time. it was so cute seeing their reaction, they both got a kick out of the furry sheepskins draped over their desk chairs! designing for kids is such a joy, the look on their faces is priceless.
until next time, design swell. live well.
design is a way of life.
