this week, i'm focusing on the bedroom my two boys share. i gave them the option of having their own rooms, but they wouldn't have it any other way!
the configuration of the room is a bit tricky. every wall has a window, a door or a jog. this made furniture placement key to the success of the room's design. i first thought bunk beds were the way to go, but then i found this vintage headboard and i had to go for it! all it needed was a coat of white lacquer.
now for the design. once again, i was drawn to high contrast, black and white. i've had an obsession with this wallpaper for a long time, and this was the perfect place to use it. i used it on one wall feature wall, i didn't want the boys to get dizzy! the other walls were painted a fresh bright white.
it was important to me to have a cozy reading nook in the room. after finally ditching the upholstered nursery rocker, i opted for a sleeker version.
take a look at my vision for sutton and schafer's room...
the room when i got started...
and the room after i was finished...
and now for my favorite, detail shots...
i love spending time in here, it's such a happy and fun space for my boys. i smile every time i walk upstairs and see that wallpaper peeking at me from down the hall. this is definitely the look and feel i wanted for them, and i love the longevity we'll get from the design. next up, the master bedroom... design swell. live well.
design is a way of life.
