if you haven't been introduced to four magazine yet, you are missing out on a publication full of visually stimulating images and rich content. released quarterly, it's more of a collector's item than a mere magazine. lindsey and i were thrilled with the
premiere issue where evaru had a full page ad in january 2013.
when ciara bird, creative director of four magazine, approached us several months ago asking if she could feature evaru in the second edition, we were beyond flattered!
take a look at the gorgeous cover!
the second issue highlights five creatives around town.
limited copies are available in boutiques around charlotte, or you can visit online www.fourmagazine.tv to order your own copy.
have a wonderful holiday weekend, and happy reading!
I love working with my client Amy Pack, she is so easy and trusts me that I won't lead her wrong with my design ideas! I recently did an install for what once was her children's playroom and turned it into a cool teen room that they will be able to enjoy for years to come! The original space was very dark and definitely needed some color and light, the miss matched furniture pieces & heavy black bookcases at one end of the space were one of the design dilemma's. Amy needed me to bring new life to the furniture and get the room feeling balanced plus give her kids a place they can hangout in with their friends...
I proposed reupholstering all of the furniture since she needed to get a few more years out of it, and adding a large storage cabinet with lamps to the other end of the space to balance the room. A big green shaggy rug would define the space and ground all of my fun accent fabrics.
With a few tweaks here and there the finished room looks awesome!! I love to add a few unexpected items on install day to really make the room feel over the top. Amy and her family are really pleased with the outcome, she says, "Kipling has been in here every night so far!!" :-) just what I like to hear!!
Let's not forget how the room started off.......
....and now how much better it looks!!!!
Fun job for a fun family!!!!!
i would venture to say, that most dining room designs begin with a dining table.
in my case, i started with this fabulous wallpaper from schumacher.
it's charcoal, but has a navy cast. i knew i wanted chartreuse as my accent color, it's amazing with the wallpaper and ties into the adjacent living room.
next, the dining table. i had my heart set on a design classic, the platner dining table.
i love vintage furniture, and have a lot of it in my house, like this pair of ward bennett chairs. i know a deal when i see one, these just needed some new fabric.
a perfect opportunity to bring in the chartreuse and use a combination of fabrics.
a sumptuous velvet and my other obsession, faux bois!!!
so, what to hang above this gorgeous table?
i already had this amazing midcentury buffet with intricate wood paneled doors.
to keep the room warm in the midst of all the metal, i decided on a wood chandelier.
what to do about dining chairs? simple, while perusing one of my favorite local shops, mid century salvage, i came across a set of breuer chairs. scott, owner of MCS, did an amazing job reupholstering them in this graphic linen that solidifies the design scheme.
so how does it look together?
see for yourself, check out the before and after pics!
this is one of my favorite rooms in the house. bathed in light, it is the perfect spot for morning coffee, but has a moody lounge vibe for nighttime entertaining.
design swell. live well.
I am really excited to finally share the results of one of my recent installs! The Drummond's contacted me after getting a referral from past client, Patty Comer .... they were in need of a desperate make-over..... I mean OVER HAUL :)
The furniture was so out dated, circa 1980's and Kelly couldn't stand it anymore, she needed a room that reflected her tastes and style and Phil didn't mind giving in. The walls were a goldenrod yellow when we started and had the same tones as the hardwood floors. Everything blended in too much and there wasn't an ounce of coziness to this space.
You've got to see these before pictures!
Kelly wanted some glam and Phil wanted comfort, I think I gave them both what they asked for. Take a look at the design concepts I presented to them.
The room had lots of space so I suggested we shift the bed and night stands over to the left, making plenty of room for a sitting area. Kelly loved that idea and said she never thought to do that! We added two new case goods in the room giving the couple tons of storage. I had my cabinet guy, Wes, build a pair of nightstands that had similar lines to the dresser and once we added appliques and mother of pearl knobs to the drawer fronts, they looked amazing!
See what you think, doesn't the room look like a swanky hotel suite?! :-)
and a few updates in the adjoining bathroom .....
After much anticipation and waiting patiently for everything to arrive, the couple is now able to enjoy their master retreat. Install day was a breeze, thanks to the many subs who were at my right hand.
It was so nice to receive an email from Phil that night.....
" Lindsey, Just got home and LOVE the room. It looks amazing!
Another happy client & successful install is in the books....
Up next is the Pack's Playroom reveal! Stay tuned!
design is a way of life.
