i can't believe it's already thursday again, and time for another update on the one room challenge with linda of blog calling it home! i honestly panicked this morning, thinking it was week 5, but thankfully that wasn't the case. the wallpaper still has to go up!
this past week, the new toilet was installed, the open shelving was concealed and the vanity was brought in. i was SO pleased with the look and fit of it, it was like it was meant for that bathroom!
take a look...
and now it's all coming together! i can't wait for the wallpaper to go up, but first the mirror, junction box for the sconce and electrical outlet have to be moved around. i'll be spending the weekend working on the drawer fronts, that's a little fun detail i'm working on, and getting the art ordered and framed.
as always, head over to calling it home to check out the other linking participants! it's crunch time and we can all use the encouragement!

to start this week off, i'm sharing some projects i've been working on. one is a surprise nursery. only the doctor and i know the sex of the baby, how fun is that?! the other is a living room redesign and dining area spruce up. the living room and dining area are being installed this week and i'm super excited to see these spaces come together. take a look at the design for the space...
this is how the space looked when i first saw it. my client wanted to keep the existing wall color, so i chose fabrics grounded in the tan tone but included some pops of color. adding two sconces to the fireplace nooks will help brighten the dark room. we're also adding doors to hide the cluttered shelves.
and now the nursery! this was so much fun putting together. i had the envelope for weeks before i opened it to see what the sex of the baby was! i wanted to stay completely unbiased as i designed the space.
this room is/was the husband's man cave, so this is going to be one awesome transformation!
it's week three of the 'one room challenge' with linda of blog calling it home, and i'm happy to report that things are happening at my house! this is so exciting!!!
if you follow me on instagram, you saw my many deliveries that arrived this week. the toilet, sink, faucet, sconce and hooks are here! the vanity was taken yesterday for a new paint job. i decided to use benjamin moore's 'gunmetal'.
here's a progress shot. it was a nice surprise to see the existing flooring went under the vanity. no patching floor tile for me! i know the toilet was installed today, so i'll get to see that when i get home. very exciting friends!
take a look at the other linking participants and see how their projects are coming along. i can't wait to check in! design swell. live well.
nine year old lila was overdue for a bedroom makeover, and today i'm sharing what her new room is going to look like. her only request was mint green, so that was my jumping off point. her mom told me she's a 'girly girl' so having doses of pink was a must!
my inspiration for the room came from this fun confetti dot fabric. the color combination is my favorite, it's more sophisticated than the average polka!
the room as it exists now...
and my vision for her room, coming soon! stay tuned for install pics, can't wait to share this one!

it's week two of the one room challenge with linda of blog 'calling it home' and i'm pretty excited to share the design for the kids' bathroom. it's full of fun details, some vintage goodies, and my boys are even excited! take a look...
we have a vintage camper that we've yet to renovate, i was thinking of saving that for another one room challenge ;) so i fell for these cute camper prints from etsy. not sure which one(s) i'll use at this point, but they were great inspiration!
to date, i've ordered the sink, faucet, hooks and sconce. this week i plan to order the wallpaper (still need to measure for that) figure out the art, and send the vanity to be lacquered. wish me luck!
make sure to check out the other linking participants at calling it home today, and for the next four thursdays, there are tons of great projects to see!

hey everyone! i was waffling whether or not to participate in the one room challenge this season with blog Calling It Home. i mean, it's not like i have nothing else to do right now ;) my partner is on maternity leave and work is crazy slammed, but in the end, i decided i needed the push to do something about my horrible upstairs bathroom.
this is technically the master bathroom in our 1960's home, but with the previous one room challenges i've participated in, this has now become the boys' bathroom. here is the MLS photo from when we bought the house, and little has changed. the only thing i've replaced is the mirror. and bless my dad's heart, he dropped his drill while trying to install a new sconce and broke the corner off our vanity (we decided to wait on the sconce). it's just a hot mess!
all the issues i have with this bathroom... i really don't like the style of the shower tile, so i'm debating on how to address this. will i replace or reglaze for the time being?
the other eye sore is this open shelving situation we have going on. i can't wait to have doors to cover them up. i do love my faux bamboo mirror. it might come back, or i might find a new home for it in the house.
for the vanity, i'm thinking of using a mid century dresser. if you remember, i did that in my very first one room challenge and i love how it turned out. next week i'll share my design for the space. i know there will be wallpaper and i have some fun tricks up my sleeve, so make sure and follow along to see the progress unfold.

last year I was referred to a couple who had just relocated to the area and bought a house on dilworth road west. they were getting ready to renovate the home and needed help designing a few of the spaces, as well as picking out all of the lighting and getting window treatments up in the kids rooms.. they worked with B Whittington Construction on the remodel and I absolutely love the way it turned out. I would highly recommend them for any remodel projects you may have going on!
the first space I want to feature is the living room...
the space before had a very outdated feel with over sized furniture in it. the yellow walls and honey floor stain made the space feel country. we definitely needed to get this space up to date for this couples modern taste.
the design they chose was a monochromatic blue scheme with lots of gray...
lets take a look at my design!!
we decided on a new sectional to really ground the space and provide lots of seating. we added an accent chair that swivels to face either toward the conversation area or towards the TV, a large modern media cabinet and console table with lamps behind the sofa for ambient lighting. the abstract rug really pulls all the colors together and the couple admits, 'it was worth the wait' ....
there's always that last lingering item to really finish off the space!
lets see how it turned out....
I have to admit, this modern blue design is way better than before, and I
hope these guys can enjoy it for many years to come.
stay tuned for the master bedroom and bathroom reveal!!
