we've got a ton of new projects going on and this post is dedicated to the Belcher family! it is such a compliment to get a referral from another client, so thanks Tracie Renfrow for sending your friend my way!
my client Beth contacted me after meeting with a number of designers and not finding her perfect match, she even went as far as trying to work with the designers at pottery barn but her hubby quickly put an end to that as he didn't want the whole house to look like a PB showroom. thanks Brian! she was a little nervous at first, having seen all of our bright, colorful designs, she didn't think I would have anything suitable for her calm, neutral taste. I am excited to say that she fell in love with a few designs and choosing one was a challenge! we instantly clicked and I can't wait to put together all of her spaces in a few weeks.
up first is the dining room; we need to keep all of the existing furniture, so I proposed moving the large china cabinet to the side wall on the right hand side, shifting everything down to the left, installing a new chandelier, and creating a new vignette with a pretty console, mirror & lamps!
take a look at my design plan.. with new window treatments & area
rug, the space will definitely look finished off!
next up is the great room & kitchen, in here we are doing a complete overhaul- everything is going! the neutral color scheme will carry throughout but in here we adding a touch of soft blue!
the last room to get a makeover is the 'hangout room'- this is a small bedroom turned hangout room for the Belcher boys to play games, watch tv & have their friends over in. I plan to wallpaper the back wall where the sofa will go, incorporate a new media cabinet and fun window treatments. the rug will really pop with all of the greys we are doing in here!
I am looking forward to working through this family's home to update everything and give them a fresh look. phase 2 will consist of Brian's office and the master bedroom! Can't wait for the installs, be sure to check back in on this one!!
i've recently been working with my client, Sarah and her family on a few spaces within their home. the bonus room & youngest son's room are the big projects, and we are updating a few things in their other 2 son's rooms as well. the goal is to eventually update the entire house, get rid of the red, gold, brown tones and bring in more gray & cream for a freshened up look.
up first is the bonus room, and since Sarah likes having themed rooms, we went with a 'city loft' vibe in here- a fun room for the boys to hang out in with friends, watch tv, play video games, do homework, etc. the family needs plenty of seating in here, along with a game table, desk space and fun accents. here's what I've proposed...
I am doing a faux brick wainscot treatment on the lower part of the walls, and we will paint the upper part a medium gray, the ceiling is going a pale blue color to give the feel of a sky in here. on one wall, we will have a long custom desk unit where the kids can do homework & draw, I am doing the skyline of Charlotte above this area. on the other wall, I found an industrial media cabinet that will go under the tv. the game table will have grey concrete stools around it and there will be 2 sofa's creating an L shape to maximize seating in here.
next is Sam's room, he currently loves ninja turtles so that's the theme we are going with in here. I didn't want the furniture and fabrics to reflect TMNT too much because this phase probably won't last long. Instead, I am planning to use art that can easily be changed out down the road.
since his room is on the small side, I want to give him a day bed style set up, with night stands on each side. this will give him more room for the custom lego table I have designed. the long walls will get a stripe treatment and I plan to paint the ceiling lime green!! cowabunga dude!
I am looking forward to the install for these spaces, they should be super fun!!!
I'm so excited to share the Currence's install with all of you, a fun family room for a growing family. They are definitely not afraid of some color and unique furniture pieces! I love the layout we came upon for this space, and I think you will too! catch up on my initial design concept here. let's jump right in!
before, the space before was long & open, Karolyn was at a loss as to what to do in here! I proposed a few layout options to help her visualize the flow & placement of the furniture and she jumped right on board :) one of the major changes in this space was the lighting, we definitely needed more & the outdated track light had to go!
the family now has two distinctive living areas, and there is plenty of space to entertain! the tv side is a little more loungey while the fireplace side is more of a conversation area, music playing, wine drinking, space.
let's see some more....
I love the way this bright & cheery space turned out!
Karolyn & John were great to work with and I look forward to more
projects in their home!!
until next time....
design swell. live well.
design is a way of life.
